As soon as I see my bananas start to go brown, I instantly get excited! There are a lot of things you can do with brown bananas, but my favorite is still banana bread. There are tons of recipes out there, and let’s face it…most of them just aren’t that great. I want my banana bread to be moist with that yummy dark brown sugar top. I had a great recipe that got lost in the midst of my many moves over the past year and a half, and as you can imagine I was quite upset when I realized it was gone! I tried a couple of different ones since then, and they just weren’t the same, which left me sad and unsatisfied. UNTIL I stumbled upon this fantastic recipe posted by Lizzy at Your Cup of Cake! This was definitely it! I adapted the original recipe to fit my needs ever so slightly, but it’s still hands down the best banana bread recipe out there! So, when I saw my bananas going brown on the kitchen table, I knew it was time for banana bread. Then I got thinking…how could I go above the traditional take on banana bread? How many times can I say banana bread in this post?! But then it hit me like a ton of bricks as I was sorting through my cabinets. What about Cinnamon Toast Crunch Banana Bread?! FYI it smelled amazing while baking! Maybe a DIY banana bread candle down the road? [Read more…] about Cinnamon Toast Crunch Banana Bread
When I was a kid, I refused to touch or eat anything green. My taste buds have since changed (much to my mother’s surprise!), and I enjoy many green vegetables now. Even if you don’t enjoy greens, such as spinach or kale, I promise you WILL enjoy this Mango Green Smoothie! Now why can I make such a promise? Kale is a great green to include in your diet, if not the best green because it’s packed with Vitamin A, C and K. It also has powerful antioxidants and even has proven to reduce the risk of cancer! Now that is something I definitely want to include in my diet! For all of you out there that hate the taste of kale, as it can be quite bitter, have no fear with this smoothie. Eggs are probably my favorite breakfast food. Is that weird? Don’t get me wrong, I love chocolate chip pancakes or waffles with strawberries and whipped cream too, but there’s something about eggs that always draws me in. After an early morning run, I LOVE to come back and throw some eggs in a pan and let the magic begin. Whenever I work out, I find myself craving a great egg breakfast. Perhaps it’s just a habit from college? Four years of early morning workouts on the track almost always concluded with egg whites and cheese or something of the sort. So needless to say when I returned from my run yesterday morning, I decided to try something I’ve thought about doing for quite a while. Bell Pepper Rings with Eggs!! It feels like it’s been forever since my fingers have touched a keyboard. We celebrated the fourth of July this year at our cabin in the mountains of McKean County PA. It’s okay that you have no idea where McKean County is because it’s more important to know that we spent the entire week with no cell phone service or internet access. Eleven people, six dogs, three four-wheelers, a lot of wine, and a big grill are the key ingredients to having a great vacation in my family. We had a great fourth and I hope you did as well! I was wishing everyone lots of great food on the grill and quality family time. Before we loaded up the truck and Ozzie and I set out for our six hour trek to the mountains, I decided to whip up a fun and easy picnic dish. Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs are perfect for not just the fourth of July, but any summer picnic! [Read more…] about Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs
Like most dogs, Ozzie loves little frozen treats. For years I remember going into the freezer, pulling out a frosty paw and giving one to the dogs I grew up with. They absolutely loved them! Even if they were in a sleeping coma three rooms away somehow they would magically hear the freezer open and come running. I don’t love the price as much as my dog loves eating them though! So I decided to do some research and make Ozzie a batch of homemade frosty paws! [Read more…] about Homemade Frosty Paws
I TRY to stay away from fast food restaurants as much as possible. But every once in a while, when I can’t bring forth the motivation to cook or have that intense craving for spicy nuggets and a chocolate frosty, I give in to the temptation. So what could be better than making these tasty bundles of joy in the comfort of your own home? What if you could make a Crunch Wrap Supreme right in your kitchen?! I am sharing with you how to make your very own Taco Bell Crunch Wrap Supreme! [Read more…] about Easy Crunch Wrap Supreme
Summer is a fun time for everyone including your furry four-legged friend. Warm summer nights, campfires and swimming are just a few things I look forward to around this time of year. As the mom to a long haired Mini Aussie, who basically refuses to walk out the door in temperatures above 80, I take extra precautions in the summer months.
Five Summer Dangers for Your Dog
Every time summer rolls around, I find myself scouring the online world (thank you pinterest!) for fun, easy summer foods. Summer is my time off from the craziness they call teaching and it’s this time of year that I feel EXTRA Martha Stewartish. I throw myself into gardening, DIY crafts & projects, fitness, fishing and lots and lots of cooking. Sometimes I think I like food more than I do people. Then again I also like my dog more than most people…maybe that’s why I love kids so much? Anyway back to salsa!
I originally saw this recipe over at Ree Drummond’s Pioneer Woman and you should totally check her out! Amazingness I tell you. For all of my salsa fans out there…this is what you have been waiting for!
Like many things in my life, I want my food to pack some heat baby! The hotter the better! However, since my hubby sweats over anything remotely spicy, I tried to keep this salsa from sending him running for the hills. Now I love love love peppers. In fact, I have several pepper plants battling the humid summer temperatures as we speak, just waiting to be harvested. Yum! Of course, this salsa is packed with peppers, but you can tone it down a tad if you’re not as big of a fan as me!
Just over a week ago we welcomed our little baby boy, Ozzie, into our home. No, it’s not an actual baby, but our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppy is now the center of our attention. So I thought it was only fitting for him to be the inspiration for my first official post in my blogging career! After all…this is the hardest part right? Getting started that is.
Ozzie’s currently 9 weeks old is and a little ball of fluff and fun! Together we will watch him grow up and laugh at the adventures a long the way. Even though we’ve only had him for about a week, he’s already gotten so much bigger! I can’t believe how fast puppies grow up. As excited as we were for our boy’s homecoming, we wanted to make sure everything was in order for his arrival.
